Hello Mountainbikers,
It sounds like there is some debate on what is going on regarding stunts on Seymour. First off, most of the trails on Seymour (Ned's, Corkscrew, Dale's, CBC, etc.) are within the Lower Seymour Conservation Reserve (GVRD). The LSCR is dedicated to provide mountain bikers with a great place to ride. Mountainbiking makes up our largest user group and we appreciate that fully. There are, however, other user groups, such as hikers, that are just as important to us (they were there first remember). The incline trail is for hiking. Why? Because it is one of the only ways to access that part of the mountain, and we must provide a safe and enjoyable way to do so. Having a jump that lands riders onto the Incline trail is simply unfair to hikers and more importantly unsafe, so it was removed. It was not fun having to dismantle that particular stunt because it was evident that alot of work went into it and it was fairly well built. Also, we have a responsibility to mounainbikers as well regarding stunts. If we feel a stunt is built improperly, we will take it down. If you are saying to yourself, "how the heck do those guys know what a good stunt is and what isn't?". Well, myself and my co-worker who deal with the majority of biking issues not only ride ourselves, but we have a fair bit of construction experience both on and off the trail.
If you have a stunt you would like to build or any work you would like to do on Seymour, or any question for that matter, please contact me at:

matt.harmeson@gvrd.bc.ca

Thanks,
LSCR staff

Hey Matt, I was the builder on Ned's when the guy got knocked out at the new gap on the bottom of the trail about 4 months ago. You came rippin up on your nice quad. Good to see you guys care what's going on round your part of the area. If the ramp did in fact come out onto incline I got no problem with it being taken down, there used to be some launched on incline 2-3 years back and they got taken out too.

Mods, please sticky this thread.

Matt, I'm guessing, but I think you have attended NSMBA trail days in the past?

I remember seeing people in LSCR uniforms at trail days in previous years. Just curious if you were one of them.

Thanks to LSCR for giving mtn bikers a place to ride!:D

Thanks Matt!

It is good to get a clear, first hand explanation regarding this. I certainly think there is enough room on the mountain for everyone, hikers, runners and bikers.

...and the rumor mill stops.

Well, upon numerous encounters with the LSCR Staff and the BC Parks personel all I can say is you guys come off differently on the net. In person, well... You guys are A$$holes. I've seen a few stunts get torn down because they weren't built well enough but in actual fact they were exceptionally well built so I am curious if you have any proof of your construction experience/training? I hate to be the pessimist here but I doubt it for some reason.

Anyways, thanks for the Response none the less.

That's funny. They're really nice guys in person. Maybe its you?

The work that they've done is pretty good - Dales, bottom of Neds etc.. Perhaps you could present your certified diploma in baseless trashtalk while we're on this topic.

First off, I am really interested in hearing about your negative encounters with our staff. There are only a few of us that patrol on the Seymour trails and chances are if we acted like"assholes", you probably deserved it. The two main builders, myself and a co-worker, have 8 and 10 years experience respectively. Back to our attitudes, if you have a problem with us, lodge a complaint. We will never take down a stunt unless we have a damn good reason. We ride too remember, and it is never fun wrecking someone's hard work.
