I am from kamloops, i am very proud of where i live. but lately this town has become a warzone of political beliefs on bikers. Fueling this local disdain for our kind is a lack of appropriate research that has been done by the news, although this may be a stale topic it really chaps my ass. As you all know my friend blair jones broke his back when he tried to style out a 15 footer and turned it into thirty. When the local newspaper did a write up on him recently the accident was described as "he was cruising along the tails of rose hill with some buddies when he attempted to hit a jump, misjudged his speed, and fell". the fact is that although this sounds harmless, hey it takes some pressure off the big hits, but the truth of the matter is that it 1. does not do him justice. and 2. is very innacrate. because the stunt was near rose hill, and due to theongoing controversy with rose hill it was said to be on rose hill, which in turn fuels the argument that the trail is a niuscance(sp??) The residents complain about people parking at the bottom, driving up the road, and ruining the natural beauty. i dont know when the last time was that i saw them parking their mercedes at the bottom or there being any congestion from the shuttle vehicles, i dont recall the last time there was a biker cause accident going up the road, and in all honesty i have never see a single person hiking the trails back there, which are conveniently located near a dumpsite. i'm beginning to believe that they actually do not dislike bikers, they just feel as though we should be disliked, much as the situation skateboarders faced in the late 80's/ early 90's right to this day. an editor in our local newspaper stated that mountain bikers "lacked common sense". to make a generalization like that i appaling and i don't understand how someone can make a statement liek that about a group of people who puts so much into the town. I know that this probably sounds like a bunch of violin playing to you all who live in van, but we in kamloops dont want our situation to come to that.
