depends what kinda vehicle if you ask me. If its like some 89 colt or some little piece then cheaper, but if its kinda roomy, and a decent place for hte bike, then 20-30... bus is about that dring snowboarding season.
I think a few guys on here were offering rides for less.

if you are going to whistler anyways, you dont really need to charge anything esp if you are going up w/ buddies. it doesnt really cost your car/van any considerable amount more carrying an extra person or two.

as courtesy, it should be up to your passengers to decide how much they want to pay you unless you have jackasses for friends who think you owe them rides without you saying so. when fj drove me up several times last year, i picked up his lift ticket (free w/ 2 for 1 coupon :) ) and bought him lunch.

I'd say $25 is a good price unless there is more than one person the it should be $15 each.

$10-15 I'd say. I'd be happy getting $15 off 3-4 people for a ride to Whistler. I usually pick up lunch and throw in about $10.

Ross, he said he'd give you rides to Whistler and back all year, but it doesn't say how much he'd charge you ;)

But I'm with UFO, it's not exactly that much more gas to bring someone else along with you if you're going anyways. If it's a bro, and you know they'll repay the favour, maybe even just let it slide.

If the person going along was polite, they could offer to buy lunch or a beer or something. But I wouldn't charge for a ride. I'd be going anyways, so what would be the point besides being a cheap bastard?

thats what i would do. however im sure theres guys and gals out there that would take advantage of their friends driving all the time. it was that way with me for snowboarding. i never asked forgas money but it ended up 9 times out of 10 i drove so i charged gas money then. if you are going anyhow and its a bud just alternate driving up.:)

If someone is sponging, that's different. They'd be rude, and I wouldn't hang with them in the first place.

If you don't drive like a frickin nut, most people should only use about 1/2 to 3/4 of a tank of gas. So if you're taking one person $20 is fair, if you're taking two then $15 and three would get you $10. Or you could buy a season pass, charge people $20, and after four trips with 3 people you've paid for your pass and get to ride for free the rest of the season!

If the people you drive up can't offer to drive you up, then you have to think of cost of gas, insurance, maintenance etc. The argument of "well you were going up there anyways" is ridiculous (so are 100's of other cars, and so is the bus...). There is a cost to drive and maintain a vehicle. Work out what is fair for what you drive. I've never had a friend bawk at the idea of paying for a ride to somewhere, in fact I've never had a friend not offer money. Sometimes I don't charge anything (for randomly no good reason :-) but 99% of the time I do.

If you switch up driving, then charge just for gas - unless you regularly travel to the same place (e.g. Whistler) in which case just switch driving - no money exchange.

no its not; you are taking friends up and not just absolute strangers hitch hiking on the side of the sea to sky.

you maintain the vehicle, and insure it the same regardless of whether you are driving yourself up to whistler, or driving yourself and 2 other passengers. you are not a business, and from the sounds of it, many drivers are trying to make a quick buck doing something they would do anyways.

its all good if the passengers are up to it. but i think that it is absurd to be making a profit off your friends. your buddies will in all likelihood offer to pitch in for gas in one way or another for such a long trip if they are half decent human beings. if each of your friends for some reason offered you $40 (what greyhound charges?) for the ride to whistler and back, would you accept it?

switch up driving works as well.

Plus you have some company for the drive.

It's pretty sad to hear that other bikers like to take advantage, while others are just plain stingy.

You, Ron, have a brain AND a heart.
