SO I got to thinking. Why the hell do I pay $2.50 extra to bring my bike on the ferry, when there are no racks, all I do it lean it against a railing between the oil spill kit and some brooms. this is not cool. So, let's all contact them and ask them for bike racks for the extra money, or to not charge extra for bikes.
here is their online form:
http://www.bcferries.com/contact_us/feedback.html

Discuss.

like most websites for doing with the government they don't even read those forms direct emails ( if thats possible) would be more effective. even if they read the amounts of requests they'll jsut say its a feature they can't afford caused by lack of funds

I think that the fast craps had them but i sorta doubt it. Do you lock your bike up on the ferri when you go for a ride on it or do you just leave it cause nobody can really run wit it (on a boat on water).

because it costs $50 to take a car on. $10 to walk on. My parents live in Nanaimo, so they pick me up there.
or if I go to the gulf islands, I just take my bike. putting a bike in your car is not a solution to this problem.

CBC Almanac had a call in with a BC Ferries guy a few years ago. I called in asking why they charge for bikes when they provide NOTHING for bikes. Even the host got on this guys case about why they charge for something when they provide nothing.

The guy didn't really answer the question. Basically because they can. They don't charge if you bring a canoe/kayak/wind surfing gear on board! These items take up as much space!

But he did agree with me that they should provide some secure area for bikes. Like that happened too.

Thanks buddy.

I agree Diggs.
Its a pain in the ass worrying about your bike chained up to the rail in the car deck. Sometimes you can sweet talk the crew into letting you lock it up in the oil spill room, but i did that once and then no one would open up for me again:(

i rode on the ferry at duke point last year and it didnt cost me any more...so i'm not sure what ur talking about, and oh well u dont have a bike rack, please show me where theres actually room to put one in, cause there isnt any room at all. but anyways if u did get charged that extra 2.50 it is a huge rip off

not to mention the fact that there giving you and ur bike a ride, noe the fact that ur bike weighs something, maybe not much but it takes up space and weight...at least you have somewhere to lock ur bikes up and you get to get off the ferry first, now you must feel special:rolleyes:

Right now may be the opportunity you are looking for as the Ferry Corp. is no longer a government corp but has been privatized. This new company is looking to improve the image of the BC Ferries and may consider your request.

Do up a petition and I will sign it.
