View Full Version : Seymour parking update ...
So I went out on a mission after work tonight to see what I could see ...
Went to the Old Buck parking lot. As of 5:30 today there's no parking meter installed. Still the same old concrete pad with some ready rod sticking up. Checked out the little gatehouse at the base of Seymour Road, it was locked and no info signage to be found. There's one sign on the BB in Old Buck lot with some info. It says you can buy passes at and BC tourist info centre.
So, I head off to the nearest tourist info centre ... the one at the north side of the Lion's gate ... on Cap road and Marine Drive? Closed up tight. No hours posted or anything saying when (if ever) it will open. There was a sign saying tourists can go to the DNV offices for info ... between 9 and 5, M-F!! Like tourists keep business hours!
Well, looks like this weekend we're off the hook! No meters means no way to pay!
I'll be in Whizzlah on Sunday anyhoo ...

there is a meter in the BP lot, but it is still taped up with a bag over it as of Mon.
does that mean I have to pay when I go up to build? that would suck some a**
yeah, that's the sad truth Chris. Maybe NSMBA should contact BC Parks about passes for ppl on authorized projects.

Have fun paying the 50 or 60 bucks for the impound.

It was still taped up today, but had some of the plastic that was covering it removed.

I called BC Parks today. There are still some glitches with the parking meters. You can buy the pass up at the Seymour Ski Area, or the Cypress Ski Area. The Ski areas have been contracted to enforce the pay parking.
According to the website, pay parking on Seymour and Cypress has not been implemented. I didn't get a straight answer as to when enforcement will start.
Currently there are no exemptions to the pay parking. We are trying to work something out for volunteers.

Do you buy the yearly pass from the machine?

I don't think so. It is my understanding that you can get the yearly pass from the ski areas.

I'd like to get a pass and get it over with.
Mushroom parking lot has a meter too, but it's enclosed in a big blue box.

You can buy your pass at the info center by the Lions Gate bridge or the Info area at the top of the Cypress Ski area. Seymour has not figured out how they will sell the passes.
There will be no enforcement this weekend. It should start next weekend, May 31st.
