If anyone wants to ride a super-technical hidden trail on Burnaby Mountain, come to the trail head on the ring road. It's got 15 footers, a small rhythm section, over 300 feet of skinnies, a teeter-to-huck, a stump drop, 2 log rides, and a super skinny roller coaster!! The cities tearing it down on tuesday, so tomorrows your last chance!!!

Im gone for an hour, but ill be back to tell you where it is and where to meet and all that.

Which makes even less sense, because the watershed isn't in Surrey (assuming you're not talking about some Surrey watershed I don't know about)!

Whos all gonna be there? JM, bryce, graeme, adam, dennis?

that person
05-05-2003, 05:24 AM
why dont you just move all the ladders 20' off the trail in the bushes and when the city comes to tear them down theyll think you took them home or somthing, then just set them up a week later like before.

cause it would take weeks to take it down.... and even if there was a week of time to do it, the ladders and all are being held together by 8 inch spikes....;)

i sure hope theyre held by at least 8 inch spikes, some of those supports high in the trees looks scary

wickedmcdougle

bottom line is, the city sucks
yah moving everything would be too much work for the 1 day we have left

not 3:00, more like 3 30
at the trail sign, you know the one that's right after you cross the ring road

doesnt much matter...i built an 8 footer in pville trails, and just used like 7 nails, but i nailed them in all on angles, and they were like 3 and 3.5 inch ones

wickedmcdougle

no they're tearing it down cuz if some retard gets hurt on it, they might sue the city

KenN

Maybe they're tearing it down cause IT'S THEIR LAND and you didn't get permission to build anything ON THEIR LAND?

Aren't they building a new university village up there, maybe they're going to build dorms on the trail. This village is supposed to be on the west side of the mountain, almost right on top of the Ostrich.

Unfortunately that's exactly it. Anything that resembles a stunt on SFU lands has been ripped down soon after it has been found. Hasn't LOLAH been ripped down a couple of times now? What did you guys think was going to happen?

You guys have to realize that it's not your land. They are possibly liable for anyone getting hurt on the things you build there, so you can't blame them for taking it down.

If you want to build trails with no risk of them being taken down, buy some land and build what you want. But I'll bet the first time someone gets hurt and their insurance company sues you, you'll be out there taking them down yourself.

I ride SFU once in awhile, too bad I didn't find this one before it's demise, looks like it was fun. It sucks that your trail is going to be destroyed, but you can't blame the city.

Hmmm...I'm thinking there may be more significant demolition going on than just a trail, and the trees may be in the way of building an entire village as well, unless they just want to tear down the stunts so they can hang hammocks instead.:) :)

wow, i walked the trail today and was disappointed. sure seems stupid cutting all those young cedars knowing that building isn't allowed and that the stunts would only be torn down anyways. now there will be no trail, and dead trees. no one comes out ahead.:(

ryan

and building a secret trail off of a hiker-highway seems silly as well.

i used to commute to school that way, it is far from hidden

There are many trees.....some just have to be sacrificed for our enjoyment.
