so i live in Tsawwassen and have been building in Point Roberts...as most of us know is in the United States. I not only go there to bike but also to jog as well as build. I go there most days after dinner with the long days and stuff. The border crossing people are beginning to get suspicious of me as a drug dealer or something i guess cuz today they went NUTS...
they ask me, who i am where i work when i work what i do there what i do in the point where i do it when i do it why i do it what i brought back...and then they added a statement of declaration on top of that.
they're all ready to search my vehicle and stuff and last second they say no. the problem is that i get this most times i drive down and usually have an axe/hammer in the back for building and would these be considered "weapons or firearms"?
theyre seriously pissing me off.
so what i go to the point every day for exercise?
am i no longer allowed to go to a PENNINSULA thats not even connected to the US and has nothing but forest and cabins...
its crazy. what should i say the axe is for? and no i cant stash it. my parents wont let me. last time i stashed stuff it all got stolen by hikers or something (not in the point)
cam.

You should get one of your friends to hide in a duffle bag on the back seat and wiggle around
or get a bunch of friends to sit in the back wearing sombreros and ponchos on the way back to Canada.

hell no.
its pissen me off. i used to just skip the border but if you get caught these days its hella trouble for you. before it was a slap on the wrists and a couple hoursa in the holding cell on your own (i dont know this persoinally, but i know ppl who have been caught cuz 99.9% of ppl skipped the border before 9/11)
now they manhandle every son of a bitch tryin to get back in to Canada...the Us guys are chill. the Canadians are mega bitches.
"sure i got a firearm, no way in hell you're touchin it though"
cam.

yea man, one crossing. point roberts doesnt connect anywhere to the united states.
and no way in hell im gonna stop cuz they hassle me. im gonan get hassled a couple times and just basically say "look you constantly stop me and harass me, everytime you find nothing, now id like to either talk to your supervisor or to stop being hassled so much for nothing"
whatever, they did it to my friend. he rode a bullit and it had a made in the US sticker on it, and everytime he went across they stopped him and interrogated him about the bike. even when he had receipts from steed with him.
they're dumb

Just say "No, I consider my axe and hammer as tools", cuz it's only really a weapon if you have intentions of using it as one.
Then again, a bloodied axe, dirty clothes, a duffel bag and a shovel might not go down too well...

Does the Point Roberts crossing have a NEXUS lane?

hahaha it takes me an hour from tsawwassen to coquitlam for me...:) i dunno why 2 hours to burnaby? i can make it downtown in like 25 mins. but i drive fast cuz of my blingen minivan.
point roberts has a NEXUS lane but its 80$ a person i believe, and thats per person. and every one you bring over with you in the NEXUS lane needs one i believe.

It last for 5 years though.
My wife and I are both getting them. We never get hassled while travelling together but if I go up by myself to ride I get the serious Q&A from the Canadian side. They just can't imagine why I would drive all the way to Canada from Tacoma to ride my bike.
There have been lots of times when we have been sitting in the line up coming home and kicking ourselves for not having them yet.
Brock, one hint: Aldergrove crossing. Exit the I5 at 257, get on the guide, and keep on going until the trans canada.

I use it quite a bit actually when I am heading to Whistler or to North Van. It is a good direct route striaght up from B-Ham.
Sometimes we drive up and catch the ferry in Twassen to go see her sister on the island. Thats the days that we wish we had the pass.

My grandma lives in B-Ham, so we always use it. I haven't been down there in a month tho.

Hey Cam, we have the same problem with the boarder crossing people. They go on power trips and never come off them. It got so bad that my moms husband wrote some letters to the president and all thoughs high end people. Now we just drive through without a trouble. Your best bet is to write the manager of that particular crossing and tell them about your troubles with the employees on power trips. good luck.
