Anyone know what the deal is with DirectBuy? Is it a scam or can you actually save a bunch of money using them?

We might be upgrading our kitchen appliances and buying a couple of smaller pieces of furniture in the near future and I'm trying to figure out how to get the best value for dollar.

I agree, go to Trail, but watch which monkey's you get. Usually had good luck with them, the last assholes I had though put about a dozen holes in our brand new walls and left a good 2 feet of extra dryer vent hose dangling when they were done, as well as not properly securing the drain hose for the washer. Good news is when you complain they rush over and fix it up right.

yes and:

the only thing you really save money on is really high mark up items, say like versace furniture which you get for $30,000 instead of $50,000

I SAVED $20,000!

don't bother

coast appliances was awesome for me, though i hear they are closing

big membership fee. i think its 3000

my parents friends have a membership, parents were able to use their access # to view prices, then went and bought applicances from sears who matched direct buys prices.

Versace furniture on sale? Well why didn't you say so?

Coast closing could be a good thing for the bottom feeding I'd like to do.

:damn::damn:

A little googling found the membership fees to be between $3K and $6K (usd) with $100 or so for 8-10 years after. It varies from store to store.

i have pretty close to a photgraphic memory, and going through their price list there was no real savings other than items like that

Interesting ... no shortage of hits.

Sounds pretty much like a system high-pressure sales to get you parted from a hefty membership fee. You'd have to be fitting out a whole house to get back the fee in savings imo.

Their crappy infomercials had convinced me it had to be a scam. Nice to see that they didn't let me down.

Oh no ... you should. And you should let me use your membership # to do my own shopping there. I, however, have no intention of parting with 3-6 kilobux just for the chance to see their real prices.

Can I lease the membership? That seems like the winner play on this.

from what i hear it only benefits the user if they are doing MAJOR renos/full on construction where they will be spending thousands and thousands.

That's awesome. My bank though only writes drafts in increments of 20K. So I'll send you a draft for 20K, you send me a check for the difference.
