Checked out JUMP on Sun night, decent flick. Why delete all the threads about it? I thought you guys were into promoting mtb'ing? While we respect this is your site, it appears you may be more concerned about making money than living the mtb lifestyle. A prompt respone with some info on your position here would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely, Mark.

I am not scared of anything synchros. It wasn't me personally that deleted those threads but I imagine there were inappropriate replies within the threads?

If so the entire thread would have been blown away immediately.

Please don't start pointing fingers or making judgements before you know what happened.

I'm not necessarily passing judgement, just trying to get a response as to what happened. While I may not have had the chance to read all the replies in the thread, the ones I had read were all ok. Also, considering some of the stuff I have read on here, particularly in the NBR forum, I find it surprising that a bike movie thread would ellicit the type of posts that would cause it to be nuked. There has been some discussion on the board as to why more than one thread about the movie has cut, we just want to know why.

i agree, it's very weird :S

i think dylan was going a little wack on the third thread last night  which is probably why it was nuked, but the other two seemed to be ok.

and again, i ask, why not lock it? whatever happened to locking threads - the first two threads had some decent info about the film :???:

mods can delete individual posts rather than whole threads. that last one that was nuked had some good banter in it.

i'm quite sure that the mods are not scared of anything, other than letting this forum get out of control at any given time (which is understandable). also, cam et al are NOT just interested in making money and all that shit. i know for a fact from experience that the owners of this website are passionate about mountainbiking and what they have going here. believe it or not, there is a lot more to this site than this puny forum. if you don't like it synchros, go post some where else. having been a staff member, i resent you making those kind of judgements when you know fuck all about what goes into this site.

Thanks Blaine, well said.

Synchro, I am only afraid of scary movies, and only sometimes..

Late last night, the thread you are referring to got anihilated by one of the members who received 30 days in the box for his inability to control his account.

Its too bad, it was a good thread about a local video that was going well.

It is not a matter of us being "afraid", I'm not sure where you dug that theory up.

It was a mater of a member acting innapropriately and our commitment to keeping the board %100 for users who care like yourself.

It is too bad when a single person takes it upon themselves to bring down threads that mean something to users. Unfortunately, only two people are responsible for bringing down a thread that meant something to the entire board. You can thank them for that.

whats the biggest fear stirring around the moderators? well im very new as a mod, but from what i can tell is this...

a reinactment of what happened with the previous forums. that is the biggest fear in the mods heads. i cant speak for all the other mods, but for myself...i really dig these forums. i try to not delete anything, mod anything, or step on any toes....unless its really needed...then i usually send a pm to the thread creator about it, less they bug me about it first

there have been a few threads this week (its only tuesday!!!) that have deserved deletion, but usually this isnt the case.

super8 - we arent trying to get into a pb vs nsmb debate..dont try and troll for that...it wont work :D
they do things their way, and we do things our way....

i for one didnt get to see jump..but ive been a fan of amy and dt's for some time now....so i was hoping all went well..i was enjoying the threads about it - but as mentioned above, it got outta hand. i didnt get to see those threads - i was home riding :) but im sure if it got deleted, it was for a reason....i think clay is the only mod who deletes things out of boredom... ;)

I think this what the reference to passing judgement was about.

 your gonna get it.

Some members think that we mods have all day to comb through a thread removing unsuitable posts - we don't. As you all have probably seen, some threads become cancerous with inappropriate posts and it usually leads to more of the same as the thread grows. At that time in a thread's life it is more humane to kill it rather than try to surgically remove the cancer-ridden posts.

Don't blame us mods for deleting threads, blame the user that ruined the thread for the rest of you.

I used the word affraid and the ref to makey money to get some attention here. Obviously it worked. I do have a pretty good idea of how much effort goes into this site and that they're not here just to make a buck. I also appreciate the hard work they do for us.

I was/am dissapointed with the nuking of ALL the threads related to the movie. I want to know why toss everything? If there were some objectionable posts the mods could have simply deleted them instead of the whole thread.

(Written before I saw Clay's post. If it is too time constrictive for you to delete individual posts then fair enough, kill the whole thing. I do agree with you Clay that the poster should get torched - maybe a reason to bring back user ratings? Now watch mine go into the toilet. )

I apologize if I have offended anybody with my strong reaction to this topic. I did this because I have a couple of friends involved witht the project and I want to see it go well for them.

As it stands, there has still been no explanation for what happened. I know the mods are busy but some of them have taken the time to respond to this thread. Why can't someone just tell us all the threads got canned?

Read Mulletrons post and then read my last post.

I know it is frustrating but sometimes we are left without any other option but to blow an entire thread away.

I deleted the thread Synchro. The whole sha-bang. I tossed everything because the thread was full of shit posted by a very small handful of members who lack the maturity and self control to act like a regular human on the bulletin board.

It is time consuming to delete the individual posts. We do this a lot, probably more than we should. But, I can ssure you, this was a case where I was not willing to devote half an hour of my time to sort through the pile of garbage to leave the 6 or so useful posts standing.

Ultimately, you can thank the responsoble parties for your thread getting nuked. The report a post feature allows the users to have a huge say in the quality of the bb. Unfortunately, there are and always will be a few bad apples in the crowd. They will have a much harder time existing on the board if people who care like you continue to speak up about them and work to squeeze them out, and discourage the "bandwagoners" who try to jump on board and drag good threads down.

If the "Jump" premier is important to you, why don't you just post a new one?

The concern on the board is not making money. We are volunteers ie: we don't get paid. The board does not generate revenue, it is an operating expense of nsmb, a service they choose to provide, that is partially supported by advertising.

The concern is keeping it a cool place to hang out and yap with other riders and to have a place to learn more. Its also a concern to keep shat posts away from our board.

Actually..the whole point is that there have been THREE threads posted about the movie - one sunday, one monday and then the pos one last night (which deserved to be nuked but hey that's just IMO  )

If it was just one thread...then no biggie, but three??? which is why the "big deal" is being made.

Thank-you! LG

I am sitting here wondering if I start another JUMP post if it will get nuked liked the other two that were OK. That' what I have wanted to know all along - why all of them dissappeared?

Your kidding...I posted one of them myself LG, I am well aware of what is going on.

Our whole point is that you really should be directing your questions to your fellow users who lack the maturity to control themselves on the board and who are responsible for bringing down the threads you are concerned about.

All we are doing is our best to keep the board in top shape. Sometimes we are not going to sift through everything to save the couple of useful replies when the thread has been hi-jacked and destroyed by other users.

If that pisses you off, like it pisses us off, speak up against the wankers that cause you this grief. I know why you are pissed off, and I would be too. You care about something and somebody keeps wrecking it for you. We are doing our best to keep things flowing here.

Sarcasm solves nothing...why do you get so angry at me :???: I've reviewed what I've posted, and I'm curious as to your attitude. You referred to only one thread being nuked...I merely pointed out there were three (and yes I'm aware one was yours).
