went there for a little street sesh yesterday as i have a cold and cant ride mountain for while.
they are definetly ready to do some work to that place down there.

when we arrived i noticed a lot of the wood that usually surrounds the opening has been carted off and taken away.
also the graffiti around the outside of tunnel has been painted over. they got rid of all the stuff that isn't inside the tunnel, painting the wall outside that seperates the highway from leeside.

looks like this could be the beginning of the end for our beloved street park.
#1 reason i love leeside: no skaters. its a bike park!!

also i think scully and his hot pink have struck again,
that highway barrier looks so cool with the checkered hot pink hahaha. was trying to stall on that......soooo high!!! props man

well if you look closely there was a fence there originally on the side with the dirt hill. they just cut it and rolled it back and started building in there.
i actually want to get in touch with the district/city in chage of that area and find out the deal on whats going on.
anyone know what jurisDICKtion leeside falls under??? burnaby city/district or vancouver city or what????

well its public land....so that means that we have to have access to it. Under the freedom of information act and all that kinda crap you can use your right to see almost anything nowadays.
any plans they want will cost them $$$.
that $$$ have to be approved first at a council meeting, and then put into the budget. we can all see the budget if we so wish.

hahaha evan i knew it had been done a while ago too i just really didn't notice it. but thy are removing the stuff off the like rocks bricks that are further down the wall towards where we park.

man i noticed they painted over the graffiti outside. those were AWESOME!

my stance on this..

i say keep it. and its not a biking issue at all. look at the location. and look at every other freaking underpass in vancouver. would you rather bikers who respect and maintain their own park? or homeless ppl who go under there to shit shoot up and go to sleep? bikers are there late and scare away homeless people (what kinda person can sleep in there with a bunch of us hootin and hollering). i mean seriously. right now its doin more good than bad. besides, liability my ass, if they can build skateparks they can allow us to have a "park" as well.

that and there are some awesome murals, bombs, etc in there.

I went there today, and didn't notice anything different than last weekend... I go in from the south side though, maybe you mean the other end.

All the crap over by the rollin is still there though...

the walls the run inbetween the highway and tunnel have been painted
for them to get the rollover would mean bringing in scaffolding and lots of work

I meant the piles of wood behind the roll-in. On the dirt hill that drops into the tunnel from the street...

Maybe they're starting to see some sense and will realise that removing the ramps won't do shit all to solve the graffitti problem...

oh theres no problem:) its great, the more the better, I wish I could go to this park just to see those tags and peices alone, let alone the riding, heh I was born on the wrong side of the country, thats no fun.:P
