It'd be cool if we could ride our Norco hardtails for half price too. :(

We aren't appreciated?

its true trail worker! the pre 01 stays broke way less than the new style ones. they should go back to the old ones

..They did change the stays gentleman, wall thickness has increased from 1.8mm to a full 2.0 mm. Problem should be solved.

I beat the hell out of my 2001 Team DH and never broke anything but myself.

I am IN for sure! Just imagine the sound of 400 VPS's pinning it down A Line. Like a bunch of fighter jets, I am stoked!

Its like an owner appreciation day like they do for car owners, except its for bikes. Definately worth doing some runs in the pack..why not?!

Great! We will have tools and Norco will have the tech truck, so we should be able to keep your bike up and running for a full day!

Thats what Shane said too. Apparantly A-Line (one of the smoothest trails, I swear its carpet) is not so smooth...

But, hey, giver 'er! :mullet:

The "oh , they are so loud" is getting tiring. Any monocoque design bike amplifies the sounds of the bike in action.

Example. Intense M1. Just as audible as a VPS. Yet, nobody ever comments on that.

Mountain Cycle. Same thing.

Big f'in deal! I'd rather ride a solid, great performing bike than something that rides like crap and falls apart, but is quiet.

Ride a bike for how it feels, not how it sounds.

I liked how people got the hell outa my way before I even got to em. The loudness of a VPS rules.

IFO
04-05-2003, 06:23 PM
oh come on Mulletron, Mikes comment was funny....

no one is knocking the VPS as a solid ride... but it is noisy...or at least teh older design was...

your new bike is alot quieter....:D

mike
04-05-2003, 06:27 PM
heh lighten up
vps' are nice bikes. hell i used to have one. i had quite a few problems with it though. such as rear ends cracking. it was a pretty loud bike but it didnt bother me at all
i guess i lost faith in norco when they made me buy a new chainstay for a 2001 bike i had for 3 month, and i was also the original owner, and was running a 6" rotor. that set me back $250. the reason i bought a norco is beacuse i thought they had a good warranty system(after coming from a kona, and busting it up pretty good-mostly my fault)

for some reason as i already pointed out,the pre 2001 bikes didn't seem to have any problems with the chainstays breaking...hardly any of em broke...these new one's suck balls though it would seem.

and about the VPS' being noisy...once you get used to it you don't even notice.

its because they changed the design
i think the new ones have a bit more tire clearance(although its hard to tell... my second stay had alot more tire clearance than my first one)

Here's what I noticed:
Pre 01 Chainstays never seemed to break (probably because people weren't riding nearly as hard)
01 Shore chainstays had a problem
02 Chainstays broke on every VPS. Every person I know wiht a 02 VPS had the chainstays broken. Team DH, Shore, Drop, they all were bad :???:
03 VPS's I'm not sure yet but I imagine it will be better now! They have a completely different chainstay curve so I hope it has more strength :)

mike
04-05-2003, 07:06 PM
the bikes below the shore in 01 had the old style chainstays. they all seemed to be fine.

04-05-2003, 07:59 PM
I rode my 99 into the ground and it never broke. Took 5 light urban rides to break my 02 Team Dh stays but they were warrantied in 30 seconds. I have no complaints. I wish I had a 99 to beat the shit outa when ever I want tho.

ouch!!
04-05-2003, 07:59 PM
I working for norco will be there for sure. giving the techs some help and doing what ever else I can. And we get to ride for free!:D

Hardtails rule, I rode one all last season with Mech brakes.

I'm gonna be getting a season's pass anyways, so I don't think it'll really make a difference...
