I talked with old man Marshall and he says probably end of September or early October.

Well time is fast approaching so tell em to make some plans so we can make sure we can make it out to this again.

Last year was fun in the snow up top.

Is the Full Boar Challenge a DH race? If so where exactly is it?

connor
09-02-2008, 12:59 PM
Dan said it was every other year.

Wayne P
09-02-2008, 01:43 PM
Its every year. It didn't happen 2 years ago for personal reasons. It takes place at Greenstone mountain, just outside Kamloops. It is a super long DH race with a little uphill, maybe some snow, and with lots of gnarl. Winning time last year was about 20 minutes I think. We might be timing it this year to help out Trev who happens to be one of the best guys in the industry.

Full Boar: (250) 314-1888

20 min sounds like fun.

I think you'd have fun on either. Even with the little bits of uphill, you might make up for it on the steep descents by using your big bike. Hard to say because I've only ridden that trail twice. Take both bikes?

Fast open stuff

Smoke
09-09-2008, 12:28 PM
Yeah, it's got a bit of everything. If it's not too wet, the upper section is super tech and steep. Last year they ran it around the old way because of snow making it ridiculously slick.

There's an uphill of about 30 seconds, some high speed doubletrack sprinkled with mud holes, a tech singletrack section with some tight rocky parts and some pedaling, and some fast smooth stuff at the end.

no
Seamus McGrath (part of the World Champs XC relay team I think)
and wouldn't you know it, I was matched up against him first round of the round robin/elimination type hill climb event

I really happy with my DH though, beat last years time in all the slimey mud this year. The bermed clay chutes near the bottom were like a luge track and so much fun it is worth the week of laundry and bike maintenance.

Timing the event from inside the truck, while a snow drift was forming on the floor, was so much fun!
