Well done boys, Bloody well done.
Some people are dreamers ...
“There is not so much choice here,” said Victor Cuzacu, 31, who had his mountain bike stolen June 27, a week after he’d bought it. If he finds his bike in the police collection, he plans to ask Wal-Mart for a copy of the receipt, so that he can claim it.

I had to laugh at that too.
Nice work by the police though (for a change).

"Officers converged on 36 Berryman St., in Yorkville, at 10 a.m., to retrieve about 100 bikes"
"One by one, vintage cruisers and high-end racing bikes were brought out over the course of an hour from the back garage"
"Igor Kenk, 49, who lived at the two-storey house, and Jean Laveau, 47, were charged last week with theft under $5,000, attempted theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime. "
Theft under $5000? Were they were charged with 100 counts. I'm sure that many bikes with just a couple of high end ones would be well over 10g's.
Hope the media keeps up with the story. Be nice to find out what they end up with sentencing/fines wise.

Is there a green Knolly Delirium in there?
I think the media think any bike over $300 is high end

It pisses me off that this guy is charged with theft under $5k. It's like robbing a bank for $4999 and walking right back in a doing it again.

since they would have been stlen at different times, that probably makes them different crimes. it will probably be similar to the picton trial (unfortunatly, they won't get the same sentence), where it will be 1 trial, and at the end, a whole pile of verdicts. I guess that way, if they can't prove that the jackasses stole every single one, they can still get them on most of them.
personally, I say let each rider who picks up their bike ride over their balls.

Do you honestly feel that stealing bikes is in the same department as kidnapping, abusing and killing women?

KenN trolling?? That never happens...

How is telling somebody they wrote something stupid trolling?
Guys- we're talking bikes. Falls pretty low on the social priority scale, all of you idiots stating "at least the cops are doing something good for a change".
Give your heads a shake.
Bikes.
Yeah, I had piss on my cornflakes this morning. What?
I guess I probably should have made my statement more clear....
I wasn't saying the cops don't do anything, I was just saying that it is nice that they are taking bike theft seriously for once.

For clarity, I was taking issue with the claim that "unfortunately they won't get the same sentence" as Pickton. To suggest (even in jest) that (very prolific) petty thieves should get a sentence similar to a mass murderer really trivializes horror experienced by Picktons 50+ victims.
Just IMO,
Kn.

Well to quote Mr McMahon,
"Oh, but wait. This just gets better"
http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20080724.wbikes24/BNStory/National/home?cid=al_gam_mostemail
officers uncovered a chaotic mess comprising not only bicycles, but an array of orphaned items including a dead Coke machine, a stack of roofing shingles and a female mannequin sporting an X, made of electrical tape, on each breast.
That's some freaky shit.

Couldn't agree more.
Yes I love my bikes, and yes I'm glad something is being done, but I suppose the pesimist in me would prefer those resources go towards investigating / prosecuting much higher levels of organized crime.
I mean, they are bikes...adult play things.
