CDN Open course looks r-tarded again.

Straight down the lift line from Schleyer drop, there are about 100 cut stumps in there.

discuss.

I've eyed up that line for so many years, 'bout time it got put in! whistler so needs a proper dh track up in garb......no lame speed robbin' uphills, no other trails cutting in or across it.....give us a freaking real dh trail already! :)

Waddya mean "again"? It was awesome last year!

I'm interested to see how this year's course ends up. As you say, it does look like it goes straight down the hill for much of it's length. I'm also envisioning some kind of gap where it crosses over Schleyer lower down, else that's going to be a very awkward compression.

There's not necessarily anything wrong with stumps. Makes line choice a bit more interesting and ups the consequences for the pretty boys who insist on riding without armour. Bring it.

The one thing that did piss me off last year was the lack of practice it was possible to get in. With lift lines at one hour plus I think I got three practice runs in all weekend. It would be nice if those signed up to race got to skip the queues at least for half a day or something.

Looks sick! I didn't realize that was the coarse until one of the guys on the lift was said it was,
looks like it will be steep and fast, I also saw on the connector off of Whistler DH to lower joyride (maybe im wrong) but there was a cut in area along there through the grass that looked like it went towards heart of darkness, would that be it as well?
and connor answer your pm's!

The local crew has been doing more trail work on the course for the Canadian Open. The track looks SICK! It literally goes from the Schleyer drop straight down the lift line until it hits lower joyride right before the rock cliff under the chair. This is going to be a crazy race! In other race news, Wednesday's course looks to be Schleyer to Lower Whistler's DH to the last part of rock city and end with a sprint across the flats and finish by the tree island. It looks like we might have some “practice” laps to do today.

I think your cultural disadvantage is showing. Good thing I am fluent in Britishmtbnerd.

perhaps I should have said it looks cool, like low temp laser cool..

BTW you where able to skip the lift line with a race plate, but I guess they didn't advertise it.

Bollocks. Duly noted for this year.

Does it look similar to the worlds course in Italy. Because I know the video didn't do it justice and that track looked rad. Multiple line choices is the way to go.

i was told that it was going to go down under the lift from the schlyer drop to drc. with a drop off the shlyer rock roll onto the open section with a drop/step down over schleyer and into drc. iv been outa town in south america for 2 weeks, plans may have changed but has any1 been told that its going the whole lenght from schyler drop to joyride cliff. or are they just making a new trail?

it's very raw right now, but it's coming along......lots of stumps sticking out all over the place!

As part of the trail construction, they should shape those stumps into laZer sharp spikes.

You know, keep you on your feet.
