Dearest Riders:

If you ride in a bike park and hit jumps in the rain and then complain drainage sucks you need to be cracked with a rolled up wet towel!

If you are jumping jumps in the mud and dont stop you need to be cracked with a rolled up wet towel!

If you are riding in a bike park and it is crappy weather and you are carving ruts and destroying things you need to be cracked with a rolled up wet towel!

Just because legal bike parks are built in a community do they deserve less respect than your local sick jump spots! Do you go to those sick jumps in the forest when its raining and session? and then leave without repairing? If you answered yes it is just a matter of time before the builders will crack you with a rolled up wet towel!

Finish rant here---Start bleeding heart education approach now...

Please respect all community bike parks and try not to ride jumps when they are wet. Riding jumps when they are wet damages them and continued riding in the rain makes them unjumpable. Generally speaking no one wants unjumpable jumps...

If there are any questions regarding basic ettiquette and or general common sense this is the place to post...

well said and as far as i'm concerned that applies to every trail that isn't rock armoured in CBC/Neds/7th style.

That is what some grom was doing at the new bby mtn bike park. The lower part of the park was still wet but the upper was dry, so I told him to go ride the upper.

Well checking out the pics of bby mtn, it looked like it was mostly gravel, figured after a day and a half without rain that it should be fairly decent. There was only one visible puddle, well lake, inside the dirt pump track. You could see the mud at bottom of trannies on the lower tables but most other areas didnt show wetnesss but the ground was just really soft everywhere. All the wood was dry including wall rides. Wasn't sure if that was normal, being new and not packed in yet or a drainage issue that it was retaining too much water. Has it even firmed up yet since opening weekend? What kind of timeframe do you think the park needs after a good downpour to be ridable?

should move this to the Shore forum for all to see.

I'm happy Interrivers stayed closed for the longest time and the dirt was allowed to settle. It's rock solid now!

We checked the Bby park out for the first time on Sunday afternoon.
Immediately noticed that the ground was very soft in a lot of spots so we stayed off those areas and stuck to the rock drops at the top and working on the wooden stuff instead.

There were two lakes in the natural pumptrack so I didn't ride it. And you could easily tell that the dirt jumps should be off limits due to all the ruts leading into them (didn't look at the trannies on the back).

We were really surprised that people would have been riding them in those conditions to begin with because it was so obvious to us that it would just be wrecking them.

But, as usual, I suspect that the people who would ride jumps (or trails) in bad conditions don't frequent these boards and will probably never know what the problem is.
