At long last we are going to have a race on Harper in Kamloops.
Keep your ears open for registration to open as we are limited to 100 riders. Either pick a partner to do the climb or the dh or race the whole thing solo!
It's going to be a huge weekend of camping, eating, prizes, and fun.

Holy crap!!!

Hey Man

Enjoy the Kamloops trails and Heat! This is gonna be a blast, good solid climb and a nice high speed decent, add a burger and a nice cold beverage and it makes for a great day.

Good job Brad! I still owe you a coupe of shirts.

Hey Man
06-03-2008, 12:20 PM
Thanks Wayne, I am just part of this, Cheryl and Taylor at the Cafe are a large part of this too. They should have some stuff out shortly with all the details. Gonna be a fun day up there.

Hey Rob are you gonna need a partner or are you gonna ride the whole thing?

cheryl@nsmb.com

I am definitely going to need a partner! Some one with some climbing legs.

TheRob

Haven't decided yet Brad.

Will the uphill just be uphill or will there be James type suprises ala The 7th Ripper????

I'd like to try it solo, but.............. :(

Hey Man
06-03-2008, 05:17 PM
Unfortunatley I don't know about the Ripper courses of the past, just what I have read, on my list of things to ride for next year. I know you have ridden up there and without giving too much away it will consist of roadway and singletrack (obvious), just how much singletrack is still being determined. Depends on circumstances. I am going to go up and do a recon ride on Thursday to check some things out. It will be a good solid climb though. I am sure we will be able to make it interesting. That Heckler of yours won't have any trouble getting her done.

TheRob
06-03-2008, 05:21 PM
She's being tuned this week and I have a granny for her too. More reasons to try.

The 7th Ripper is always full of suprises. The uphill is always tough.

Just don't make it July 21st. I think Bear Mtn. is that weekend. I'd hate to have to pick one. :(

How about some Harper shuttles next week?

Hey Man
06-03-2008, 05:28 PM
It will be on Saturday the 26th of July, so you are good to go for both. We may be shuttling on this thursday up there, next thursday could be a possibility too. I know my boys want to get up there too. Thursday is my main ride night during the week, sometimes on Tuesdays, rest of the week is a no go. I can usually ride Sunday afternoons and Evenings too. Rep Soccer is killing me!

Bear is July 20th...and registration is open ;)

Since I didn't make it out to solo the 7th ripper because of injury...I guess I'll have to head out to the loops for this one instead.

The beauty of it is you could get your super fit wife to do the climb, and you can ride the dh!

Wayne P
06-03-2008, 09:56 PM
haha... I'm fitter than her right now (which doesn't say much) and I don't have a DH bike.

I rode up Rose Hill road the other day and I almost started walking half way up. I'm probably the last person you'd want climbing for you.

How is it humanly possible to be fitter then her? When I see her she looks like one of those people that just sits around eating cake and drinking beer and then runs a marathon.

A little more news for this event. The boys at Mackers on the Mountain will be supplying the lunch and even better they have arranged with Kamloops Brewery to supply several rather large containers of local brew for the event complete with servers. How good is that!

With any luck the Reg stuff should be out early next week. Stay tuned, all the Reg forms will be availible from the great folks at the Cafe. I am hoping that we get the hot summer weather that is normal for that time of year. Won't be too bad for the climbers seeing as the start will be at 10am. Would rather start it later in the day to add a little more heat to the ride but it makes more sense to have it early so it leaves the rest of the day to enjoy the mountain.

Hey Man

It is going to be a nice climb, definately will work the cardio, glad I am riding the Nomad now! Better get that Heckler out for some climbs The Rob!

TheRob

I think I'm going to find a partner for this one. I fear the single track to the top of the ski hill. :(

Ya I know how you feel Rob!
Registration forms are now available and we are only taking the first 100 racers, so sign up quick.

Hey Man

It really isn't that bad a climb, once you get to the Firepit it gets a lot easier. C'mon nothing like earning your vertical.

cheryl@nsmb.com
06-23-2008, 10:02 AM
Ya Brad, but you are hard core!
hahaha... I expect more out of Rob though, he's from the coast!

Hey Man
06-23-2008, 10:40 AM
Yeah no kidding, I thought for sure he would man up and do the climb, it's not like it's one of those huge towering Coastal Mountains or anything.

Wayne P
06-23-2008, 11:47 AM
The Harper climb is longer than mostly anything in the GVRD. The locals should have 'er down right?

Hey Man
06-23-2008, 11:53 AM
You going to ride it Wayne?

cheryl@nsmb.com
06-26-2008, 09:06 AM
Registrations are rolling in. Looks like a great bunch are going to ride it!

Hey Man
06-26-2008, 09:27 AM
Sounds great, I am going up to do some recon tonight for the route up the hill. If anyone is interested in a good climb drop me a PM, three of us already.

Wayne P
06-26-2008, 09:52 AM
You going to ride it Wayne?

Not a chance. I don't ride enough anymore to want to race.

Hey Man
06-26-2008, 11:27 AM
C'mon Wayne its just a fun event no pressure. Are you going to at least come up for a beverage?

Wayne P
06-26-2008, 12:28 PM
Hey, if I'm not there to 'race' I won't pay my money just to ride. ;) Call me competitive.

I don't know, once this CC is over I'd like to hang with the chillinz and ride my dirtbike all summer.

TheRob

Sucks ass, but I can't make it.

Apparently we had plans to go to Mable Lake that weekend.

Hope everything goes great though!

Ya it's a busy summer! Well if people are coming out make sure to get your registration in by the 21st! If we aren't seeing the numbers we'll give the race a miss this season.

Lady Gravity
07-09-2008, 12:39 PM
i'd do it but i'm injured, and i also have my kids that weekend so wouldn't be able to anyways.

i know for me the idea of doing the climb (or having to rustle up a partner) isn't really that appealing. just my 2cents however.

Drip N Rip has been canceled for the July 26th date. We'll be looking at rescheduling at a less busy time of the year and hopefully we'll get more people in it!
Thanks for those of you who registered, we'll be in touch.
