so four of us decided to head up to kamloops on sat just for the day. half the team drove up fri night and had a wicked little campout in a nice meadow near the top of harper. the next morning my chauffeur picked me up at 6am for the drive up. we started riding around 10:30am and by 2:30 had racked off six laps on harper. it was the first time i've been to harper and the riding was great, there's a mix of just about everything up there; wood structures and stunts, dj's on the trail, step-ups and step-downs, super fast and flowy lines and some nice steeps reminiscent of william's lake
we did a quick pitstop at the husky for a lunch of pepperoni pizza cheesesticks and oreo ice cream sandwhiches before it was off to ride rio. none of us except for our local guide had ridden there before and we had been debating hittin jamieson, but the local said go with rio and it didn't disappoint. it reminded me a little bit of rose and the trail def put a smile on our faces. picture a combo of the first star wars where luke flies his x-wing into the heart of the death star and some retun of the jedi and where they're flying the speeders between the trees on the forest moon and you get a good idea of what it's like ripping down rio. after a few laps there it was off to the ranch for a quick lap and then off to the pub for a bit to eat before the drive back home to van.
by the end of the day we'd logged around 3200 to 3800 meters of vert descending depending on the number of laps we got in. all in all a pretty good day of riding.
