Rode it today in the heat like a dumb ass and nearly passed the Fu$@ out...road is good all the way to the top, snow is gone. i jumped in on Knob gobbler just a few hundred meters from the first rock drop. I would have lost the triail in the snow if i had not been following some one elses tracks...some one with a dog, hmmm dunno who that could be eh Tom? Other than that it is unreal how dry the trail is, it has been re-loamed with needles and storm blow down. The side show trail seems to end right after the rock drop a way in a new clear cut. I also found another old trail with a realy cool long log ride that ended in a clear cut too. I did a lot of bush whacking today. It was hot, that is always a big climb for me, so im beat like an inmate who wont share his smokes...

That was Tom, Kim, Me and our three dogs, whose tracks you followed.
The other trail with long log ride was probably Noah Fear. The log ride had a steep ramp off it, into a gap jump?
You shoulda come with us. We were at the top by about 9:30. no real heat going up for us at all.

Yes, to all the questions. The log ride was cool, too bad it the trail ends a way down. Are you guys holy men(walk on water?), or am i just waaay heavier than you guys. You floated over the snow and i was up to my knees in some spots. That start time was too early for my schedule, but we will ride soon. Hopefully i will have more in the tank after that climb on my shore.
When you come out at that road at the end of Noah Fear, turn right. That road is the one that cuts through Time Killer. It's an easy pedal over from the end of Noah Fear.

there was not an "end" to that trail, either it has changed with the clear cut, or i lost it. I had to hike a bike over loggin slash for 150 meters. At that point i went left down the road that is one of the gated roads on the climb up.
There's a sharp right hand turn, you missed it. Just before the trail curves left and slightly uphill towards that logging slash. That slash was the original exit before the logging took it out.
We had started to cut a new line back through there until the snow and the Time Killer logging changed our priorities.
Hook up with us for a ride sometime.

Cam and I went up on Saturday and after coming out of Noah Fear and heading toward Timekiller on the road, there was a mass of freshly harvested logs that we had to climb over just before the TK entrance. Other then that is was all good!

A new rogue trail has appeared on Sumas.
The builder GB. when woodlot owner found it,
I was told by a very unhappy woodlot owner that
gb said I (fvmba)knew and approved.
UNTRUE.
I have told the builder to man up.
A very nasty letter cced to MOF/motsa followed and now we work to try and repair fvmba/woodlot owner relationship.
The fvmba builders have been working in the slash piles putting back TK/Noahfear .
Those who want to help are welcome.
Times have changed, fvmba works for ALL the riders .
Legalizing our trails .
Last year the same group spiked and cut trees off TK,it took a lot of arguing till they stopped,
some people just never learn.

i hiked that trail with steve this past sunday, the top part is ridiculous, a few months of riding and it will be a rut, the line is way too steep to be sustainable. the second part of the trail is actually pretty good, but the fact that gb feels the need to jepordize all of the fvmba efforts to legitimize the trails is pretty pathetic. i have a question for you gary, will my line be an issue too because its in the same general area as the bottom part that is causing the issue, or will it be ok because its an old line being put bak in? i dont want to stir anything else up at a shitty time like this.

Well good news after a long meeting in the Wack today the woodlot owner and Motsa rep.and fvmba came to an aggreement over this new trail.
Forgiveness has been granted over permission, but
when the time to log this area the fvmba will not ask for compensation of this trail due to it
being built without permission.
In close to five years the relationship with the two woodlot owners has resulted in few problems .
It's no fun for anyone telling others what to do,but if we want respect ,we must give it and honor our word. I have given my word which as president of fvmba,we will ask permission to make new trails on Sumas. This has allowed us over the years to operate with chainsaw ,shovels etc.. to redo our trails .
The builder and I have come to a agreement which is best for all ,and I thank him for that.
No one is perfect.
Like what we are doing? Show it and buy a membership,or come out to our AGM.
Put the hand up .

Parked at the locked gate and rode up to TimeKiller entrance (Disco Loves Plum),rode to first clearcut after the big new bridge, 50ft further turned E on a cleared section to the landing 50ft below.
Rode up E. this small uphill on the road and lowered my bike into the start of Devils Throat.
personally a little steep, esp. the entance.
Coming out onto another road, across and into World Cup a lot tamer and more fun section.
Winds down till you come out onto another road.
This road is actually Timekiller exit road.
Go W. up a very short distance and there's TimeOut exit trail which takes you out onto Bakstad road parking area. ( small waterfall, locked gate, parking area.)
Or
Do TimeKiller , in the logged clearcut section ,work continues as it is all passable, but this fall will see the trail get the love and be reworked.
Top of Sumas, past locked gate ( got dropped off at locked gate and rode with my son)
KnobGobbler
is in great shape, exits just below the locked gate.
I go to the top ,E. side of road just below tower and enter this challenging xc trail, till exiting by the gate.
Head up do TimeKiller and ride home .
g
check out ride planning section , fvog thread, and hook up with others best..
so what are the conditions on sumas like. Is time killer ridable?
Yes. There is a large tree down just after the rock drop and big berm.

work continues on TKiller logged sections.
It's getting better, the sections where you get off your bike have been getting less.
One more big bridge taking you onto a big rock face to come, and lots of little stuff.
Broke my hand earlier and be dammed if I didn't just slam a tree with it sat......oow......

went up to work on the trail today and we ran into who i assume was the woodlot manager putting up road decomissioned signs on the offshoot roads on the hill and locking all the gates. he said that they have been trying to get the bottom gate locked again and because of that fire, which was started by an arson, there is a good chance that the gate will get locked. he seemed very nice though, asked how the trails are, and we offered him help and even offered to weld the gate shut for him because he said the locks keep getting cut,so hopefully we do get a key again, other then that ,man was it ever wet up there.
