After a wicked morning on Grouse and another dump down low it was time to ski out. Snow conditions were great up top, heavy in the middle and sloppy down low but was able to make it to 30 feet within the gravel parking lot.

sweet!

Just tell the hikers the trails closed! They shouldn't be there!

All the hikers were super cool, chatted with a couple of guys that were pumped. Wade said he saw my tracks the next day as he was out snowshoeing...all good. Monica can't even get mad at me cause all those frogs are under the snow and ice...resting their little legs...:woot:

I wanna ski out and get lost in the woods! Where's the trail?

Thanks Dave, for encouraging this. I hope you've made your donation to NS SAR this year.

funny but very true. the terrain around the grind has claimed a few lives.

if you dont know the area well you're asking for trouble...

Heckler:I have done and do a lot for the Search and Rescue and the Adventure Smart Program which now is going all across Canada. From advertising, donating silent auction pieces etc. So yes I make significant contributions to a program and a bunch of awesome people who help others.

Your statement basically states that no one should post photos of jumping bikes etc. as that is encouraging others to jump and they could get injured. I am not encouraging this. Just sharing a cool outing like I do for some of my adventures. (The Giggler)People have been injured on lots of mountain bike trails that you still ride regardless, if we stopped doing something when some one died or got hurt we would be walking around with pillows on and never leaving the comfort of home.

The terrain around the Grind can and is very dangerous, I was much left of the Grind and there was never any danger. I have done a lot of avy courses worked with one of the top avy professionals in North America and spend 120 days a year in the backcountry. I would not put myself in undue risk. If you knew or saw what I did last night you would go...

You might enjoy life better if you were more positive than negative. or maybe my e-mails need to come with a liability waiver.

did you actually read what i wrote.

i said don't do it if you don't know the terrain. i didn't say don't do it if you know what you're doing.

buddy a few posts up has no idea. this is who we're speaking to ... is this that complex?

G-Man: Yeah, I read it, maybe being too defensive, sorry if it offended you.

I read all posts everywhere as interesting things people do as everyone is doing cool stuff. Bryce is snowboarding well others are at work, Wayne is running that crazy breast jacket that Apu invented...etc If I read about something some one did that I might be able to do I do it, if it is Wade jumping some huge creek on his cruiser, I enjoy the pic's and story and don't try to emulate it. Well unless I have a few beers in me like the escalator ride I did many years back on NS Extreme 2

Time to go rip up the slopes of Apex Alpine...

Im with dave here. It's your ass - you decide what to do. Not up to me or dave or whoever posts interesting cool stories to put in big disclaimers

thats cool ... i was being defensive too so im just as much at fault here ...

i just dont think most people realize how gnarly the terrain around the grind is ... but as you and Lee and pointed out, we can't protect people from their own stupidity ...

I suspect it's more along the lines of jealousy that fuels some of those posts.

You know " How dare they have fun while I sit like a servant in this cubicle farm", I'll show them.

I just wanted to point out the potential dangers to anyone considering following norona's tracks, and subsequent posts supported my position.

I'm not saying not to do it, or not to post pics. Just follow the forum's rules about 'no trail directions'. Just like we don't talk about where the Toonie Drop is (did you see it on your way down the Grind? ), I disagree with telling everyone here they can ski down through the trees at Grouse, because there are plenty that have tried and got lost or died.

And yes, it's my ass Lee, but Grouse is so much easier to get to by the average un-trained young adventure seeker than backcountry Garibaldi is.

those are some big assumptions. i dont even have a job right now and i spend pretty much every day outside ...

i was specifically responding to this post and should have quoted it earlier:

I wanna ski out! Where's the trail?

if you guys think that responding to this with some disclaimers or cautionary advice is out of line, i will have to respectfully disagree. unless that post was made in jest, i think it's quite appropriate to mention the dangers in that area to those who clearly have no appreciation of it.

Dave: sorry to wreck your thread ... if i skiied grouse at all i would be jealous that you banged this one off! small window to get it done!

no trail posts. If you don't know where the bcmc trail is I will tell you. It is a marked well traveled trail down, complete with markers. Do not try and ski it now as you will run out of snow. Very small window when this can even be thought of being done.

Risks are associated with any outdoor activity regardless if you know the area or not. Heckler: my return comment was more your caption regarding that I must take, take take, but not donate to the search and rescue. I don't tell many how I do help and I do, so your insinuation was the one that bothered me the most. Why insinuate anything. If I do help does that mean I can aimlessly go anywhere and if I don't should i just stay home.

The mountains are a place i love to be, they are dangerous and that is why we all love going to such a place. I will do so and go where I please. My choice and if I falter and need help I will step up and pay for it. If I die, hey it is all part of the package.

All of us take risks and any post on here or other sites are a way for us to show our cool little adventures. I think it is cool and enjoy reading them all except when they go sour. That is just not my style.:crybaby:
