How does manning stack up against grouse/seymour and the local mountains. Im heading up there this weekend and im pretty stoked. Thanks :)

Well, it's only got 2 double chairs and not very much elevation gain. But I personally like it better than Seymour or Grouse. Usually less crowds, and pretty decent snow. And the park is pretty good as well. But it's too far of a drive to replace any of the shore mountains I think.

Manning is more compareable to seymour than grouse as they have two old slow lifts, they seem to be maintained very well. The terrain is not as steep as the back side of grouse, however we had fresh tracks at the end of a 70cm day and I would surely make the drive back. The one thing I notice about the small resorts is no sense of urgency to get first tracks and no obnauxious locals, (sorry whistler). If you have a grouse pass the lift ticket is 20 bucks.
Take it easy on hwy 3 if there is snow on the road, we saw lots of cars in the ditch.

Manning is great if there's fresh snow. I've had awesome powder days up there with run after run of fresh tracks- nothing really steep just lots of fun. It's super low key - parked 100 ft from lift - no lineups- super chill vibe. And its cheap! 25 midweek and 35 on weekends. If there's no fresh snow, I generally wouldn't make the trek.

Manning sucked on Saturday. There were hordes of people and it got tracked out sooo fast.
The snow was prime the whole morning and deep :) but after lunch with sun out and temps up it got manky. It was fine skiing on untracked pow but sucked when we hit the tracked out trails lower down.
We saw about 5 people on snow blades, quite a few people rockn' it old school on skinny skinny skis and the piece de resistance was the 300 miles to Graceland jacket.
I was driving back from Silverstar along the Crows Nest Highway last night and it was snowing hard.
Must be good up there today.

Yea I agree, in the morning it was mint because there where hardly any tracks, after lunch it started to ice over and get packed down and it was harder to ride. My best experience all day was hitting this 4-5ft drop and ripping out of it and keeping my speed as i bounced over all kinds of little drops, Tons of fun,
yea ok!
