Alison Sydor will be inducted into the BC Sports Hall of Fame. That's May 29th next year. That rocks, congratulations Alison.

Why is this not on the front page?

Has someone written a press release or submitted the story?

Stories don't write themselves...

Great news by the way... very deserving of the honour!

About time? How many World Cups and Olympic medals do you normally have to win to get in?

Huge congratulations to Alison though!

I was always amazed how much time she committed to teaching groms and coming out to support the high school race series.

sad thing is most canadians don't even know who she is. on the news once they were in North Vancouver talking to be in the street asking if they new who the WC champ was and no one knew.........if she was an americian she would have been on the front of a freakin wheaties box.

Well, the BC Sports Hall of Fame induction is a sign that MTB is actually starting to gain recognition. Maybe someday the man on the street will know who the MTB WC is. We can always hope.

I remember 15year's or so ago going to Oz on my mtb touring .
All the talk was about Judy Furtado,I told all who would listen ,the best mtb women was really Alison.
A ,has always been a class act and she's still out there kicking it.
She rightfully deserves the recognition,a class act always.

Sweet! I remember reading about Alison vs Julie in the MTB mags, and being stoked on her silver in Atlanta!

I semi-followed her back in the nineties. I'd like to meet her sometime...she was a big part of my mountain bike life back then.

When I was riding nothing but xc back in the early nineties, she was an inspiration. She was one of those riders that could seem to win in a class field, whenever she wanted to. The extreme longevity of her career is nearly unheard of in our sport.

What I found particularly impressive about her was that during the off-season, she was regularly seen riding northshore trails (just for fun....can you imagine that!).

I am still known to throw a leg over the xc rig quite regularly, and the thought of Alison killing it on a lung busting climb continues to inspire.

I can remember watching her win a short course XC race in Whistler (Specialized Cactus Cup maybe?) by more than a full lap, the whole race the announcers were talking about how she had the Flu and wasn't riding at her full potential.

I also remember having her blow by me during the Cheakamus Challenge one year, made me feel like I was standing still.
