I won something! I know it was a small little contest but heck, other than winning swag at VPSfests just for standing there, I've never won a thing in my life!

You might have won, but that doesn’t mean you’re not a loser.

pm Jake, after his drive train got stolen he’s looking to buy some new shit.

Nice job Dave ! good timing on the shot.

I hope you don't mind, but I processed the shot and cropped it to show you how I would have done it. Yours is a bit too centerpunched for my liking.

Wow, that does look better Jay, thanks for the advice. I learn a little more each time. I got confused with thinking I needed to leave some space to show where the rider is going, while still leaving the dust trail which really shows what's happening. So many "rules"

i actually like the original shot better since it shows how he's going to completely miss the trail...which he did

nice job dave  so...do i have to be nicer to you now that you're famous?

Yup, but I don't know how long it will take for this stuff to arrive.

Yeah a chain and cassette:) I figure I just take pictures of my buddy's riding their bikes, why not put one in a contest. It's not like I'm a photographer, just a guy with a camera that likes mountain biking. The picture either gets seen or just sit there taking space on my hardrive. It made my mom proud.

not rules, or better worse, just different for you to see. I like the original as well.

I just have a preference of not seing the subject in the dead center of a 4x6 image...thats all.

I might have tried a panorama crop too if you wanted to leave where the rider is heading in there. long and thin looks cool to me as well and leaving the rider in the center would be fine in that case.

Props on winnng though...

SICK.
