I just edited these shots from a DH session today with Jell-oe. It was my first foray into multiple-flash lighting for downhilling, and I had a blast doing it. All made with an EOS-1D and listed lenses.

1.) Rock drop, shot from a tree. 24-70 f/2.8L. 1/160, f/4, ISO 800. Shoe-corded 580EX and bottom-left 430EX.

2.) Natural lighting. 50 f/1.4. 1/500, f/1.4, ISO 800.

3.) Artificial lighting. 70-200 f/2.8L non-IS. 1/200, f/2.8, ISO 800. 430EX from bottom-left.

4.) Rock steps. 24-70 f/2.8L. 1/160, f/3.5, ISO 800. Shoe-corded 580EX and bottom-left 430EX.

Yeah, they kind of are. I use a resizing action that shrinks the image in two steps, sharpening at one or both (I forget) and I think it might be high time to use the version that doesn't sharpen. The files out of my 1D are plenty sharp. Thanks.

the natural light in the second is delicious, but i also really love the moment captured by this photo.

working the bike.

weighting the wheels.

picking the line.

it's all there in this one.
