So the brakes are about to go in for a bleed but I'm curious to know if anyone has an idea as to why the brakes would do such a thing?
The brakes worked before I turned the bike upside down to re-install the rear shock, once the bike was up-righted, there was little to no feel in the lever. The brakes did a similar thing during transport in the trunk of the car but they'd eventually regain the feel and better yet, even work.
Any idea's?
any time u flip ur bike over for a length of time, u should not pull the brake lever until the bike has been right side up for a couple of minutes..
there will always be a small amount of air in the master cylinder.. if u flip ur bike over and engage the brakes, that air will move down into the brake lines and thus cause the feeling u noticed..
My rear juicy did that when I pressed my brake while standing the bike waiting for the gondo.
You can usually "pump" it back when it's positioned properly but sometimes they need a re-bleed.

its because you have air bubbles in the lines... when you put them upside down the move you your caliper. just bleed them if it annoys you that much

Well there shouldn't be any at all.
It means you need to bleed your brakes that's all

I heard Hayes 9s were the best brake on the market. You sir, are obvioulsy mistaken with that magura crap.
Auto dialing levers and hand pump are where its at with the kids these days.

if you leave it upright long enough, it'll probably return. But, yeah, might as well bleed it - the Avid kit makes it pretty easy
