I'm posting for a friend;

He is looking to get a new bike at the end of this season for the next season. He is relitivley new to biking and is looking forward to start riding more on the Shore as well as Whistler. The two bikes are the 07 Norco Six SE and 08 Norco Shore 1. He wants a bike that should be easy to pedal up and well as ride down. He likes the Shore more, but its a new frame and hasnt been fully proven yet. He is also concerned is 180mm front and back might be too much for the Shore. He hasnt really had many peoples opinions and he would like to hear yours.
:duh:
Thanks

:???: He works for a Norco dealer but needs a friend to come on here to ask what Norco bike to get, i wouldn't like to be one of his customers.

My thoughts exactly.

Just like the kid who comes on here asking for simple tech advice when he works beside a bike mechanic...

not everyone who works in the bike industry rides a bike. ive worked with a couple of people in bike shops that didnt ride and all it was is a pay cheque.

Both are beautiful bikes. My friend has an 07 six se and loves it. Its an amazing bike, top of the line everything and a great value. My friend rides everything from full on xc to full blown dh racing. Its truely the best all around bike I have ever ridden. Somehow norco managed to get this bike EXACTLY in the middle of the spectrum. That being said the 08 looks great and they definatly shaved some weight on the frame. cant go wrong either way

The Shore will definitely take a lot more abuse, so if your friend is learning, then it may be a better choice (more forgiving).

Oh yeah, ignore Schoenrock, he hasn't seen the light ;)

I am a big heavy guy,a nd I pick the shore. If I was small and light i could probbaly do all the same things on the Six. Both are solid bikes. This six will go uphill better. The Shore will go downhill better.

does he want to learn to ride

or learn to huck yo

both great bikes, i'd say the 6 will help him refine his skill set and will be an easier bike to ride.

the shore will be tough to climb and harder in tight single track. but it will be more fun for a day at WBP.

Fair enough, but its pretty straight forward, the six will be lighter and therefore easier to pedal uphill so if you plan on doing that, get that, if you plan on heading mostly down then the shore will be more capable. Hope this helps.
